BAFTA officially announced the appointment of Hilary Rosen as its new Chair. This significant leadership change follows her dedicated year of service as Deputy Chair, taking over from Sara Putt, who concluded her three-year term. Rosen is now tasked with steering BAFTA's core mission, which focuses on championing the exceptional talent within the film, games, and television sectors. Her responsibilities will encompass overseeing the prestigious awards, providing influential industry leadership, and guiding year-round development initiatives.

Rosen's extensive involvement with BAFTA includes her tenure as a television committee member since 2021, eventually becoming its chair. In this role, she played a pivotal part in shaping the Television and Craft Awards and leading their respective juries. Beyond her BAFTA commitments, Rosen holds the position of director of commissioning at UKTV, where she leads the creation of both scripted and unscripted original content. She will be joined by Ade Rawcliffe and Andrew Miller, who have been appointed as deputy chairs for a two-year term, providing crucial support in her leadership. Additionally, several new trustees and committee chairs have been elected to the board, including Charu Desdot for Games, Caroline Levy for Television, and Nahrein Kemp for the LIT committee, further strengthening BAFTA's diverse leadership.

The newly formed leadership team, including the addition of Shrina Shah as chair of the governance and appointments committee, brings a wealth of experience and diverse perspectives to BAFTA. Charu Desdot, with over 25 years of experience in the gaming industry, and Caroline Levy, an accomplished scripted producer with a strong track record in fostering industry collaboration, exemplify the caliber of talent joining the board. Nahrein Kemp, known for her work in diversity, equity, and inclusion at ITV, will lead the LIT committee, bringing valuable insights into fostering a more inclusive industry. Rosen expressed her enthusiasm for the new role, highlighting her long-standing passion for BAFTA's work and her confidence that the collective expertise and dedication of the new board will build upon the organization's impactful legacy, driving it toward continued success and innovation in the screen arts.

This strategic leadership transition ushers in a new era for BAFTA, underscoring its commitment to fostering creativity, celebrating excellence, and promoting diversity across the global entertainment landscape. The collective vision and experience of Hilary Rosen and her new team are poised to inspire and cultivate the next generation of talent, ensuring that BAFTA remains a beacon of artistic achievement and industry leadership.
