Concourse Media Unveils 'Strobe' at AFM, Featuring All-Star Cast in EDM Thriller

Los Angeles, California – Concourse Media has officially announced its acquisition of international sales rights for the psychological thriller 'Strobe,' an enthralling new cinematic endeavor helmed by debut feature director Taylor Cohen. The film is slated for its market premiere at the prestigious American Film Market (AFM) in Los Angeles, an event eagerly anticipated by industry professionals worldwide. The cast boasts an impressive lineup, including Suzanna Son, known for her roles in 'Red Rocket' and 'Monster: The Ed Gein Story'; Chace Crawford, acclaimed for 'The Boys' and 'Gossip Girl'; Rohan Campbell from 'The Monkey'; Laura Harrier, recognized for 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'; veteran actress Mena Suvari of 'American Beauty'; and Grace Van Dien, who gained prominence in 'Stranger Things'.

Taylor Cohen, making his directorial debut in feature films, brings a wealth of experience from his distinguished career directing music videos for global superstars such as Billie Eilish, Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion, and Conan Gray. This background promises a visually dynamic and rhythmically engaging cinematic experience. 'Strobe' plunges viewers into the vibrant, yet shadowy, underground world of electronic dance music. The plot centers on a high school senior whose intense pursuit of an enigmatic EDM artist spirals into a dangerous obsession. As her quest deepens, she navigates a treacherous landscape where appearances are often misleading, and the pursuit of truth threatens to consume her entirely. The film skillfully intertwines psychological suspense with the hypnotic energy of electronic music, delving into the darker facets of human obsession, the complexities of identity, and the intoxicating magnetism of celebrity.

Jack Sheehan, President of Sales at Concourse Media, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “'Strobe' perfectly embodies the kind of bold, visually distinctive thriller we are eager to introduce to the international market. As a new wave of filmmakers reshapes genre cinema and draws younger audiences back to theaters, 'Strobe' is perfectly positioned to leverage this momentum, offering a truly visceral cinematic journey.”

The film's production is a collaborative effort between Tara Razavi of Happy Place, and Nate Matteson and Hiro Murai from Super Frog. Super Frog is renowned for its contributions to critically acclaimed television series such as 'Atlanta,' 'The Bear,' and 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith.' Happy Place provided the financing for the production, with executive producer Clayton Moore also contributing, marking 'Strobe' as Happy Place’s inaugural feature film. Domestic distribution rights for 'Strobe' are currently being managed by CAA.

The producers emphasized the film’s cultural relevance, noting, “'Strobe' transcends being merely a passion project for our filmmaking team; it’s a profoundly resonant narrative concerning fame, power, and concealed dangers, themes that continue to gain deeper cultural significance. The collective talent that brought this film to life is extraordinary, and we are ecstatic that Concourse is partnering with us to ensure Taylor’s vision reaches its global audience.”

This addition further strengthens Concourse Media’s impressive slate, which also includes 'Parish,' starring Nicolas Cage, Dane Dehaan, and Alexandra Shipp, recently concluded production in Minnesota, and 'Vision Board,' featuring Lucy Hale, which is currently in pre-production.

The launch of 'Strobe' at AFM represents a significant moment for the independent film scene. It showcases the enduring power of compelling storytelling, particularly when infused with contemporary cultural elements like the EDM world. The film's exploration of obsession and the often-dark side of fame provides a mirror to current societal fascinations, making it a potentially impactful and thought-provoking watch. As audiences increasingly seek narratives that push boundaries and offer immersive experiences, 'Strobe' appears well-equipped to deliver, marking a promising debut for Taylor Cohen and a compelling offering from Concourse Media.
