A remarkable new creation from Fat Fender Garage, based in Arizona, has redefined the concept of truck restomods. Named the GT/FX, this extraordinary vehicle started its life as a 1956 Ford F-100 and was unveiled to the public at SEMA in Las Vegas. This project represents a fusion of classic pickup truck aesthetics with the high-performance spirit of a modern Ford Mustang GT.

Bringing the GT/FX to fruition required an astounding dedication of over 15,000 hours, encompassing design, engineering, and meticulous fabrication. Powering this beast is a third-generation Ford 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine, enhanced with a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger, pushing out an impressive 800 horsepower and 750 pound-feet of torque. This power is seamlessly managed by Ford's 10R80 10-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle's auditory experience is further amplified by a custom three-inch exhaust system, featuring Borla XR-1 Raceline mufflers and JMD resonators. The exterior, crafted entirely from steel, underwent extensive manual reshaping; the roof and hood were flattened, the cab was shortened by two inches, and both front and rear fenders were widened to achieve a more aggressive, lower stance. Unique design elements include custom running boards that integrate smoothly into the rear fenders, a custom front air scoop, chin splitters, and a Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 rear diffuser. The only major external component that remains unmodified from the original is the front grille.

Beyond its powerful engine and striking exterior, the GT/FX is built on Fat Fender Garage's signature FF1 Performance Coilover Chassis, engineered to provide supercar-like handling. This chassis prioritizes precise body control, responsive cornering, and exceptional stability during acceleration and braking. The vehicle rides on custom HRE wheels, fitted with high-performance Toyo Proxes Sport 2 tires. The interior boasts a completely bespoke black cabin, adorned with premium leather details, custom-upholstered bucket seats, and a leather-wrapped dashboard. Modern instrumentation and an advanced audio system bring the technology up to current standards, complemented by custom door actuators and other luxury features. A cleverly concealed climate control system, with airflow directed through a single hidden vent, maintains a sleek and uncluttered dashboard. While the price of the GT/FX has not been disclosed, its extensive build time suggests it will be a highly exclusive and valuable custom creation.

This masterpiece from Fat Fender Garage serves as a testament to the pursuit of automotive excellence, demonstrating that with passion, skill, and an unwavering commitment to quality, seemingly disparate elements can be harmoniously blended to create something truly extraordinary. It inspires us to appreciate the artistry and innovation that pushes boundaries, transforming classic forms into modern marvels that captivate the imagination and celebrate the enduring spirit of craftsmanship.
