James Veloria Unveils Enhanced Vintage Experience in New Henry Street Location

For nearly a decade, fashion enthusiasts have sought out a particular vintage boutique in Chinatown's East Broadway mall. This hidden gem, characterized by its red-draped interior and heart-shaped entrance, became a treasure trove for unique pieces, ranging from artisanal Margiela to obscure Marc Le Bihan, and, of course, a curated selection of Jean Paul Gaultier. James Veloria, established online in 2014 and opening its physical doors in 2017 by founders Collin James Weber and Brandon Veloria Giordano, quickly carved a distinct niche in the burgeoning secondhand market, even collaborating with A Current Affair in Los Angeles.

The store's journey now continues with a significant move from its beloved original location, though it hasn't ventured far. James Veloria has officially relocated to Henry Street, marking what its owners describe as the fulfillment of a long-cherished vision. The new space recently held a soft opening during New York Fashion Week, quickly drawing in a lively crowd of shoppers and friends, eager to experience the new iteration. Despite the change of address, the familiar atmosphere and the iconic heart-shaped wall have been meticulously recreated, ensuring that the store's unique allure remains intact. Patrons like software engineer Patricia Torvalds were seen acquiring vintage Gucci and Junya Watanabe, while others admired Alaïa dresses and PVC Valentino jackets, a testament to the continued high-quality selection and community spirit.

The transformation of the Henry Street location, from a raw space to a meticulously designed retail environment, was brought to life by architects Davis Owen and Irene Chung of O-N architects. This two-story setup enables James Veloria to broaden its horizons beyond previous limitations. While the upper floor maintains the established retail experience, the lower level will feature more exclusive 'grail' items and a newly introduced rental studio. Furthermore, the store plans to showcase collaborations with friends, including curated DVD selections from stylist Ashley Abtahie and limited editions of reworked T-shirts. A major highlight of this new chapter is the introduction of James Veloria's in-house line of upcycled clothing, a long-held ambition finally realized. To further celebrate its community, the founders commissioned artist Drake Carr to create a mural featuring all their past employees, emphasizing the enduring importance of connection and shared passion that defines James Veloria.

This relocation and expansion signify not just a new chapter for James Veloria, but also a commitment to sustainable fashion and community building. By embracing upcycling and fostering a welcoming, creative space, the store exemplifies how businesses can evolve while staying true to their core values and making a positive impact on the fashion landscape and beyond.
