Adebayo Oke-Lawal, the creative mind behind Orange Culture, once again brought his unique narrative to Lagos, presenting a collection that encouraged introspection and self-love. His pre-fall 2027 show, titled "The In Between," was a deeply personal exploration of emotional connections, both romantic and platonic, inviting attendees to form a personal bond with his artistic vision.

Embrace Your Inner Self: A Celebration of Connection and Freedom

Immersive Experience: Stepping into the Narrative

The journey into Oke-Lawal's latest collection commenced with an immersive entry into the venue. Large fabric banners hung gracefully from the ceiling, adorned with poignant affirmations such as "I was never outside of love" and "even here I am held." These declarations set a contemplative mood, prompting guests to reflect on self-worth and affection, as the designer intended for his audience to "fall in love with yourself."

The In Between: A Tapestry of Longing and Softness

This collection, aptly named "The In Between," served as a profound exploration of human desire and connection. It beautifully wove together elements of sensuality and softness, evident in both the women's and men's wear. The runway featured an array of imaginative dresses and asymmetrical ensembles, with notable pieces including a striking red and black dress with a dramatic side cut-out and a delicate pink and butter-yellow chiffon set that flowed elegantly with the model's movement.

Innovative Textures and Gender Fluidity

Oke-Lawal introduced fresh crochet designs and patterns that evoked the familiar tiling of his childhood home—a cherished, albeit lost, memory. A significant aspect of his brand's philosophy, genderless fashion, was also prominently displayed. A red crocheted top from a previous collection, originally for women, was creatively reinterpreted for menswear. "Everyone should have the freedom to wear what they choose," he asserted, highlighting this core tenet of Orange Culture.

A Spirit of Joy and Remembrance

In contrast to a previous, more poignant show in Lagos dedicated to his late mother, this presentation exuded a lighter, more celebratory atmosphere. Although the event coincided with the anniversary of his mother's passing, Oke-Lawal aimed for a joyful and uplifting experience. His intention was to create a moment of happiness and festivity, even on such a personally challenging day, demonstrating a powerful sense of resilience and optimis
