Peter Berg's 'The Mosquito Bowl' to Premiere at AFI Fest
Peter Berg's cinematic adaptation of Buzz Bissinger's compelling New York Times bestseller, The Mosquito Bowl, is slated for its global premiere at the 40th AFI FEST. This poignant film brings to life the extraordinary true narrative of four collegiate football heroes who, in the aftermath of the Pearl Harbor attack, enlisted in the Marine Corps and subsequently faced the brutal realities of the Okinawa invasion. Berg, who co-wrote and directed the feature, previously collaborated with his cousin Bissinger on the renowned Friday Night Lights series and film.
The ensemble cast features a quartet of burgeoning Hollywood talents: Nicholas Galitzine as John McLaughry, Bill Skarsgård portraying Bob Bauman, Ray Nicholson as Tony Butkovich, and Tom Francis in the role of David Schreiner. Netflix plans a theatrical release for the film on October 30th, followed by its streaming debut on November 25th.
