As 2026 unfolds, The Pokémon Company continues its grand celebration of the franchise's three-decade milestone. Demonstrating an unprecedented scale, the beloved monster-collecting enterprise is unveiling a new release poised to captivate enthusiasts of every major Pokémon game ever launched. This significant offering underscores the company's commitment to honoring its extensive history and diverse fan base.

Remarkably, this is not an overstatement. Game Freak, the celebrated development studio behind the iconic role-playing series, has just unveiled the cover designs for its official 30th-anniversary art anthologies. This vibrant, comprehensive set will encompass artistic contributions from the very first titles, Pokémon Red, Blue, and Green, all the way to the forthcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The collection will feature a rich variety of visuals, including classic illustrations, pixel art, 3D renderings, and promotional artwork, collectively charting the series' artistic progression over the years.

True to the ambitious scope of this release, the art books are substantial. The collection will be presented in three distinct volumes, collectively spanning an impressive 1,500 pages, all scheduled for release on December 18, 2026. Each volume will conclude with an extensive interview featuring a member of the Game Freak team, a tantalizing detail teased by the publisher. It is important to note that these art books will be sold individually, not as a bundled set. Initially launching in Japan, each volume will be priced at ¥5,500 (approximately $35). While acquiring the complete collection will entail an investment exceeding $100, this individual pricing strategy allows fans to select volumes specific to their preferred eras within the Pokémon universe. As of now, there has been no announcement regarding potential English translations for these books.

This colossal art book collection is among numerous exciting announcements made this year by The Pokémon Company and Game Freak. Other notable releases include a special 30th-anniversary trading card game set, scheduled for September, and a unique Game Boy jukebox equipped with 45 Pokémon music cartridges. Additionally, a premium, limited-edition Pokémon character guide book, priced at $2,000, was released in August 2026. Earlier this year, TPC delighted fans with a special 30th-anniversary logo that ingeniously incorporated every one of its more than 1,000 monsters. With the impending release of this extensive art book series, the company reaffirms its dedication to satisfying the diverse preferences of its global fan community, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to celebrating its rich legacy and future endeavors.
