Caleb Phillips' first feature film, the science fiction thriller "Imposters," has secured a theatrical release in the United States through Brainstorm Media, scheduled for early 2027. This announcement comes alongside a wave of international sales finalized by Blue Finch Films, demonstrating strong global interest in the project as the American Film Market approaches. The movie, which premiered at SXSW in 2026, stars Jessica Rothe, Barnett, and Vazquez, and marks a significant debut for writer-director Phillips, whose previous short film received accolades at prominent festivals.

The narrative of "Imposters" centers on a couple's harrowing experience following the abduction of their infant son. The distraught mother manages to retrieve the child, but her husband's joy quickly turns to suspicion as he begins to doubt the identity of the child she has brought home. This intriguing premise promises a suspenseful exploration of family, trust, and the unknown.

Beyond its U.S. distribution with Brainstorm Media, "Imposters" has clinched numerous international agreements. Vortex acquired rights for Canada, while Umbrella Entertainment secured distribution for Australia and New Zealand. European deals include Tiberius for Germany, VOD Factory for France, A Contracorriente Films for Spain, Vendetta Filmes for Portugal, Plaion for Italy, and PremiereTV for Benelux. Red Castle Group will distribute in CIS territories, and Media4Fun in Poland. Further expanding its global reach, Particular Crowd obtained rights for Latin America, Falcon Films for the Middle East and North Africa, and BookMyShow for India. Airline rights were secured by Penny Black, with Blue Finch Films overseeing the release in the U.K. and Ireland directly.

The production of "Imposters" was spearheaded by Thomas Bond and Sara Seligman under their Broken Pig Productions banner, marking this as their inaugural feature. Joe Bandelli from Marylous’ Boys, known for his work on the "Hell House LLC" series, also served as a producer. Since its initial screening at SXSW, the film has toured several notable festivals, including Beyond Fest, Chicago, BiFan, the Edinburgh Film Festival, and Sitges, building momentum and critical attention.

Brainstorm Media, established in 1995, is recognized for its independent distribution model, often combining theatrical releases with targeted marketing campaigns. Their recent portfolio includes other films starring Jessica Rothe, such as the sci-fi horror "Affection," the legal drama "Pike River" featuring Melanie Lynskey, and the romantic comedy "You're Dating a Narcissist" with Marisa Tomei. The distributor has also supported releases like the tech thriller "American Sweatshop" starring Lili Reinhart, the dark comedy "Psycho Therapy" with Steve Buscemi, Britt Lower, and John Magaro, and Edie Falco's "I'll Be Right There." Blue Finch's international sales slate also highlights films like the Tribeca horror selection "Recluse," Toronto's Midnight Madness pick "Kick On," and "Mission," a George MacKay vehicle backed by BBC Film.

The successful acquisition of "Imposters" by Brainstorm Media for the U.S. and its extensive international sales underscore the film's broad appeal and promising future. The thriller's journey from its SXSW premiere to global distribution showcases its potential to captivate diverse audiences with its compelling story and talented cast.
