CD Projekt Red is set to re-release its acclaimed title, The Witcher 3, in a remastered edition, offering a host of enhancements and new content. This updated version, slated for a September 29 release, will be available as a complimentary upgrade for current owners across various platforms, including GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Players will not only benefit from significant visual and gameplay overhauls but also gain access to the original expansions, "Hearts of Stone" and "Blood and Wine." Furthermore, an entirely new expansion, "Songs of the Past," is scheduled for 2027, promising to extend Geralt's epic journey.

The remastered edition of The Witcher 3 introduces a comprehensive suite of improvements designed to elevate the gaming experience. Visually, the game receives upgraded graphics, animations, and new Witcher sign effects, alongside HDR and ray-tracing capabilities. Gameplay enhancements include refined combat mechanics, more intuitive movement and mount controls, and smarter enemy behaviors. A revamped skill tree, an expanded photo mode, and cross-platform mod support are also part of the package. Quality-of-life changes like improved quest tracking, accessibility features, and a redesigned user interface round out the significant upgrades. These modifications aim to provide both new and returning players with a fresh and immersive adventure.

In an exciting development, The Witcher 3 Remastered will also make its debut on the Nintendo Switch 2 on the same release date. Owners of the original Switch version will be eligible for a free upgrade to the remastered edition on the new console. Additionally, CD Projekt Red has partnered with Blizzard Entertainment to bring The Witcher 3 Remastered to Battle.net. A purchase through Battle.net will unlock a special Geralt-themed character skin for players in Diablo 4, creating a unique crossover experience for fans of both franchises.

The upcoming "Songs of the Past" expansion, co-developed by CD Projekt Red and Fool's Theory, is a paid addition that promises a substantial new adventure. The teaser trailer unveiled at Gamescom Opening Night Live showcased a brand-new region called Letten, along with new weapons, including a chain, and formidable monsters to confront. This expansion is positioned as Geralt's concluding narrative arc and the final major content release for The Witcher 3 before the focus shifts to Ciri in future installments of the series. Developers have indicated that "Songs of the Past" will be comparable in scale to the "Blood and Wine" expansion, aiming to satisfy players until the highly anticipated release of The Witcher 4.

This remastered version represents a significant commitment from CD Projekt Red to rejuvenate a beloved title, ensuring its relevance and appeal for years to come. With a blend of graphical enhancements, gameplay refinements, and compelling new content, The Witcher 3 Remastered is poised to offer an unforgettable experience for both veterans and newcomers to the world of Geralt of Rivia.
