Zurich Film Festival Unveils Jury Presidents and Competition Lineup
The Zurich Film Festival is set to captivate audiences with an impressive lineup and a distinguished panel of jurors. Renowned director Cary Joji Fukunaga will steer the feature film competition, bringing his keen cinematic eye to evaluate a diverse selection of narratives. Cary Joji Fukunaga, known for his directorial work on the James Bond installment *No Time to Die*, will head a prominent jury for the feature film category. He will be joined by a distinguished international panel, including Swiss-French actress Ella Rumpf, Mexican director Fernando Eimbcke, French producer Julie Billy, and Italian film editor Walter Fasano. Together, this esteemed group will undertake the significant task of selecting the recipient of the coveted Golden Eye award for the best feature film. The competition showcases 14 films, featuring a range of compelling stories such as Rhys Marc Jones's *Black Church Bay*, Zou Jing's *A Girl Unknown*, and Blerta Basholli's *Dua*, among others, reflecting a global tapestry of cinematic artistry.
The documentary competition will be presided over by Danish anthropologist and filmmaker Sine Plambech, recognized for her work on *Heartbound*. Her jury comprises Spanish cinematographer Alfredo de Juan, Norwegian producer Anne Köhncke, Swiss director Jela Hasler, and Austrian director Nikolaus Geyrhalter. This panel will evaluate 14 documentary films, including notable entries like Juan Cabral and Santiago Franco’s Cannes-premiering *The Match*, Habiba Nosheen’s *The Gymnasts of Fisherman Colony*, and Christian and Adam Bonke’s *Perfect Road*. Beyond the competitive sections, the Zurich Film Festival will feature a series of high-profile gala presentations. Audiences can anticipate screenings of Peter Farrelly’s *I Play Rocky*, Beth de Araújo’s *Josephine* starring Channing Tatum and Gemma Chan, and *Possible Love*, the latest drama from acclaimed Korean director Lee Chang-dong. Additionally, the sci-fi fantasy rom-com *Wicker*, featuring Alexander Skarsgård and Olivia Colman, is slated for a gala screening.
